The Administrative Reforms and Personnel Secretary, B.K. Halder, takes over as the Home Secretary from R.J.M. Pillai who has been transferred as the Vigilance Commissioner, while the ADG CID, Ashish Ranjan, comes in place of Mr. Ojha. The DG-cum-Commandant General, Home Guards, Santosh Kumar, who was also in the race for the top post, has been given additional charge of CID in the same capacity.The RJD president, Laloo Prasad Yadav, said the only consideration in the appointment of the new DGP was his seniority and that the objective was to present a new team which would deliver the goods. He said the Government wanted results and hoped that the new team would be able to tone up the law and order situation.
