Association backs Monnappa

By Our Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE JAN. 31. The Dakshina Kannada District Government Officers' Association has alleged that the name of the Deputy Commissioner, A.K.Monnappa, is being unduly dragged into the KPSC marks scam.

In a statement here on Friday, the association President, Prakashchandra, said Mr. Monnappa was being victimised by vested interests that had launched a smear campaign against him.

He said that Mr. Monnappa could not have been involved in the alleged scam and any reference to his name would not be tolerated.

He said the High Court order had not mentioned anything about Mr. Monnappa's involvement and those elements that were engaged in a smear campaign against Mr. Monnappa should stop levelling charges.

The members of the association said even the legal experts felt that it was the High Court which was supreme in the State and the KPSC, if it goes further in "ex-parte" accusations, would be undermining the authority of the judicial system.
