NFR to provide satellite phones to all divisional hqs.

GUWAHATI Jan. 31. The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is to provide satellite telephones to all its divisional headquarters and accident relief trains to ensure passenger safety and prevent accidents.

It had completed the trial of the Anti-Collision Device, which works through a Global Positioning System.

The NFR general manager, Vipan Nanda, talking to mediapersons here today, said that other measures include manning of unmanned gates in a phased manner and providing gatemen with telephones. A and B class gates would be provided tele-connection with the nearest stations.

Drivers and guards of all passenger-carrying trains have been given walkie-talkie sets.
