Computer literacy programme

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Jan. 20. The district panchayat president, Sasikala Sivasankar, said here today that a computer literacy programme would be launched in the district by February. An official pressnote quoting her said the project was aimed at familiarising the people with the use of computers and thereby improving the quality of life.

The programme would be implemented with the help of continuing and development education centres, state and central government agencies, private institutions and voluntary bodies. The pressnote said anyone with a desire to learn computers would be eligible for the programme. Participants should be aged between 15 and 60. The month long course is based on an integrated syllabus and will cover computer fundamentals, Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet and e- mail. Aspirants have been directed to register their names at the continuing/ development education centres under the local bodies in the district before January 31.
