25,000 fake voters in Sattankulam rolls: Cong.

Chennai Jan. 20. The State Congress president, S. Balakrishnan, has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission on the alleged inclusion of 25,000 "fake voters" in the electoral rolls of the Sattankulam Assembly constituency.

In a fax message to the Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Balakrishishan said "we reliably learn" that 25,000 fake voters had been included at the "insistence" of the AIADMK Ministers and its leaders. The local tahsildars and the District Collector "are being pressured" by the Ministers to execute the fake enrolment, he said. Copies of the complaint had been despatched to the Chief Electoral Officer and the District Collector.
