TIRUCHI JAN. 20 . The marriage of two French tourists was solemnised at Srirangam near here today, in the presence of a group of friends, tourist escorts and presspersons.

Every ritual was conducted in accordance with the Hindu culture and the bride and bridegroom, attired in silk sari and a dhoti, intently followed the instructions.

Eric Lebru (38), an engineer in a private firm and Sophie Boggie (32), attached to the accounts department of another private firm in France have been visiting India for the past four years.

They were determined to get their marriage solemnised in India, in accordance with the Hindu tradition.

But, finding a venue to their satisfaction had not been easy all these years, until they landed in Tamil Nadu a couple of days ago, for the first time during their third India visit. "The holy Cauvery and a Ranganathaswamy temple on its banks, coupled with an assurance on arrangements for the religious rituals made by the tourist escorts, made us feel fully satisfied and we selected Srirangam," the couple said.

The travel escorts from New Delhi to Tiruchi, who coordinated the package tour Strassbourg in France, obviously had a different and interesting assignment, once Lebru and Sophie expressed their wish. Immediately after the marriage, the couple left for Madurai on their onward tour of the south including Kochi.

A relative of Sophie, Praitano, said the marriage would be duly registered with a church after the couple returned to France by next week.
