U.S. certifies biotech. meet

Bangalore Jan. 20. The United States Government has certified Bangalore Bio 2003 as an international biotechnology event and is encouraging U.S. companies to participate in it in a big way.

The U.S. commercial service network has also agreed to promote the event which is to be held here from April 15 to 17. Other countries, which have confirmed their presence in Bangalore for Bio 2003, include France, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Singapore, and Malaysia. Confirmation is awaited from countries such as Canada, Japan, Australia, South Korea, and China.

According to the Secretary for IT and Biotechnology, Vivek Kulkarni, "Bangalore Bio 2003 is set to emerge as Asia's premier biotech event going by the international participation confirmed so far. The event aims at bringing the Indian biotech industry together to boost investment, technology, research, and trade."

Biotech 2003 will feature a trade show, an international conference on the theme, "Formulating Models for Industry-Institute Venture Capital Partnership", a business-to-business forum, a knowledge pavilion, and CEOs' conclave. There will be many networking opportunities for delegates, exhibitors, sponsors, and other participants.
