Revenue recovery: three shops attached

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Jan. 17. Three shops, which ran up sales tax arrears in the district, were attached as part of intensified revenue recovery proceedings, the District Collector, E. Ayyappan, has said.

Of the attached trading establishments, two were at Varkala and one at Kattakada.

An official release quoting the Collector said, special squads had been formed to launch intensive revenue recovery proceedings on a war footing in four taluks in the district.

Auction dates of the attached property and assets had been fixed for January 25. The Collector said the action should be taken as a warning to sales tax defaulters to remit the dues before January 31 and avert revenue recovery procedures.

Bank melas are also being held at Palode, Anad and Peringammala on January 28, 29 and 30 to provide an opportunity for loan defaulters to avail of the interest incentives on offer and avoid recovery proceedings.
