According to the police, the jeep rammed a road-side boulder near Koladhur Gate on Bangalore-Chennai Highway around 3 a.m. The vehicle, which bounced after hitting the boulder, was thrown to a distance. Suhali (28), Mansoor (30), and Aleem (29) were killed on the spot, while Akhil and Manohar were injured. All of them were timber merchants from the City. They had gone to Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) on Thursday night to collect money from the businessmen to whom they had supplied timber and were returning to the City when the accident occurred, police said.
2 nabbed
The Chickpet police nabbed two persons of a gang of five who were wanted for robberies on Avenue Road on January 2. The two were identified as Suresh (23) from Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, and Prakash (27) from Guttepalya Road, Jayanagar. The arrests have brought to light Suresh's involvement in a murder in J.J.Nagar police station limits. An associate of his was also involved in a murder in Subramanya police station limits, police said.
Brothel raided
Police raided a brothel in Kumaraswamy Layout on January 16 and arrested five persons. The accused have been identified as Shivamma (35), Guruprasad (21), both from Kumaraswamy Layout, Ashok (32) and Muthukumar (29) from Rajajinagar, and Manju (20) from Kunigal.
VCDs seized
The Upparpet Police raided some shops in National Market and seized VCDs with pornographic content. R Srinivas (19) from Chikaballapur and Manoj Kumar (28) from Chamarajpet have been arrested in this connection.
Man dies in mishap
A 46-year-old man was killed on the spot when he was hit by a tempo on the main road in Hoskote on Friday evening. According to police, Ramanna (46) and his son Manjunatha were crossing the National Highway 4 in Hoskote when they were hit by the tempo. While Ramanna died on the spot, Manjunatha was shifted to hospital with minor injuries. The Hoskote police have registered a case. A hunt has been launched for the tempo driver.
