RSS denies hand in attack on missionary

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 17. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has categorically denied that any of its members or activists were involved in the attack on the Protestant group in Kilimanoor in Kerala even while alleging that "some Christian churches" were indulging in "undesirable proselytising activities".

In a statement released here today, the RSS joint general secretary, Madan Das Devi, said that a section of the media often made allegations against the RSS whenever such incidents occurred. This happened when some nuns were raped in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, when Graham Staines and his children were attacked and murdered in Orissa and when bomb blasts occurred in churches in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Mr. Madan Das said the divisional secretary of the RSS in Thiruvananthapuram had already deplored the Kilimanoor incident.

The RSS functionary also appealed to the Christian clergy "not to vitiate the atmosphere of goodwill" by their "nefarious proselytising endeavours" which could "invite the wrath of the common man".
