Ex-Minister's house raided
By Our Special Correspondent
BHUBANESWAR
JAN. 17.
Within hours of the youth wing of the Orissa Gana Parishad (OGP) leaders staging a dharna in front of the Orissa Assembly square today, the Bhubaneswar police raided the residence of the organisation's president and former Minister, Bijoy Mahapatra.
One of the party workers was reportedly injured in the raid.
Speaking to presspersons Mr. Mahapatra alleged that the raid "clearly indicated that the Orissa Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, was perturbed by the people's mood against the Government".
Mr. Mahapatra alleged the Chief Minister, his brother, Prem Patnaik, former bureaucrat, Pyari Mohan Mahapatra, and the Chairman of the Orissa Mining Corporation, were "responsible" for a loss of more than Rs. 400 crores by leasing out chrome ore mines to vested interests. People who had not participated in the tender were allowed to export.
