VIP cellar entry tickets suspended

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUMALA JAN. 17. The Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams suspended the issuance of VIP cellar entry darshan tickets for four days from today.

Considering the sudden increase in the flow of pilgrims to Tirumala since Thursday afternoon and the incident on Vaikunta Ekadasi Day when a surge of waiting pilgrims crashed the iron grills of the Vaikuntam queue compartments and raised slogans against the inordinate delay in getting their turn for darshan, the TTD executive officer, Ajay Kallam, temporarily suspended the cellar entry tickets.

Mr. Kallam told reporters here today that a majority of Ayyappa devotees, after worship at Sabarimala had started thronging Tirumala resulting in an unprecedented rush. The `influx' might continue for four or five days. The waiting time for the Sudarsanam token ticket-holders is now put beyond 52 hours.
