The criminal cases pending before various magistrate courts in the State were transferred to the Additional Magistrate court following a direction from the High Court. The order came on a petition filed by the PDP chief seeking the transfer of cases, since he could not appear before all the criminal courts spread across the State because of his ill-health. He also cited "threat" to his life as a ground for transferring the case. The Government had also conceded before the court that it had no objection to all the cases being transferred to a single Magistrate court in view of the security threat posed to the PDP chief.
