The Chennai-based owner had procured the chemical in the name of his unit and diverted it to the ``grey market of narcotic drug manufacturers.'' The consignment, weighing one metric tonne, which the owner sold through the broker here, was seized when it was to be transported to Delhi. The chemical is worth Rs. 1 crore in the grey market. In a follow-up action an earlier consignment, of one tonne was intercepted near Delhi. DRI officers also seized Rs. 38 lakh, the sale proceeds of the chemical, says a Directorate of Revenue Intelligence release.
