Help avert war in Iraq, says Paswan

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 17. The Lok Janshakti Party today urged the Vajpayee Government to play an active role in averting a U.S.-imposed war on Iraq and defusing the problem of Palestine.

In a statement here, the party chief and former Union Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, expressed solidarity with the people and the Government of Iraq on the 12th anniversary of the United States-led aggression on Iraq this day.

"The threat of a war by the U.S. against Iraq looms large despite all possible efforts by the international community and full cooperation by the Iraqi leadership to the arms inspectors," the statement said.

The party said it felt that a U.S.-imposed war on Iraq would affect Indian interests.
