Reliance Info to make high-speed computing

MUMBAI JAN. 17. Reliance Infocomm Ltd will introduce high speed mobile computing in India at very affordable costs.

Reliance Infocomm said in a release here today that users of Reliance IndiaMobile(RIM) will get higher access speeds at lower access costs. At 144 kbps, RIM provides 10 to 20 times higher speed than any other personal Internet connectivity whether through mobile phones or dial-up connections using fixed line phones. There will be no Internet Service Provider (ISP) fee to be paid by Reliance IndiaMobile users for accessing the Internet, it said.

The company said a Reliance IndiaMobile handset user would actually be using the computer power of a huge bank of computers served from the largest server farm in India.

The light Java-enabled, multi-media ready handsets would have polyphonic ring tones and features like three-way conferencing, call divert, in-built phonebook memory.
