Parking lot owners fined

CHENNAI JAN. 11 . The Southern Railway officials have pulled up owners of parking lots at stations and registered 364 cases for overcharging, apart from collecting Rs. 1.82 lakhs as fine from them. Officers of the Commercial and Engineering departments of the Chennai Division conducted the raids in important stations in the suburbs.

Further, excess land occupied by cycle stand contractors was detected at five stations and Rs. 50,000 collected as fine. Cases were also being booked under the IPC, a Southern Railway release said.

The Bangalore-Chennai Express would continue to halt at Perambur for one more month.
