State to launch 'video conferencing'

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE JAN. 11. As part of the initiative for taking information technology to every village and every house, the State Government will launch a novel venture, "Janaspandana'', on January 14. The programme will enable the rural people to interact with the Chief Minister through the facility of video conferencing.

The first "Janaspandana", being organised through INSAT, will be organised at Genkihal, a remote village in Bellary district in the Kurugodu Assembly constituency. The village has 822 families and a population of 4,841, of which SCs/STs comprise about 15 per cent. An attempt will be made to solve the problems faced by the people of the village, which is 43 km. from Bellary. A special video conferencing unit will be placed at Genkihal to facilitate villagers' interaction with the Chief Minister.

It is planned to organise the one-hour programme once a week.
