BCCI to forward players' terms with `qualifications'

By Our Sports Reporter

KOLKATA JAN. 11 . Going by its avowed stance of not accepting the "restrictive clauses'' in the `players' terms', the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stood by the Indian cricketers, receiving the signed contracts "with qualifications'' before forwarding them to the ICC Development (International) Limited (IDI) ahead of the January 14 deadline.

Announcing this at a news conference on Saturday, the BCCI president, Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya, said: "it was already made clear to IDI that certain restrictive clauses in the `players terms' would not be acceptable to the Indian players and BCCI."

IDI had amended the `players terms' twice on December 23 and January 6, but it had not altered the restrictive clauses that were objected by the BCCI.

"Dalmiya added that in order to comply with the deadline, which expires on January 14, stipulated in the Participating Nations Agreement (PNA), the freshly amended `players terms' were forwarded to the concerned players with "the advice to sign along with their objections.''
