The export figures for the western region were Rs. 8,916 crores and Rs. 1,029 crores for the eastern region. Karnataka emerged as the largest computer software exporter at Rs. 10,500 crores during 2001-02 while export revenues for Tamil Nadu stood at Rs. 5,875 crores, Andhra Pradesh Rs. 2,925 crores, Kerala Rs. 201 crores and Pondicherry Rs. 45 lakhs, ESC Executive Director, D. K. Sareen, said in a release here. With the turnover of Rs. 19,501 crores in computer software exports, the southern states have left behind the northern region, which registered exports worth Rs. 9,453 crores, western region (Rs. 6,590 crores) and eastern region (Rs. 956 crores). In the northern region, Uttar Pradesh topped the computer software list with exports worth Rs. 4,500 crores while Delhi clocked exports worth Rs. 4,000 crores and Haryana Rs. 750 crores. PTI
