This Day That Age
Madras star Ramanathan Krishnan retained the National Junior Tennis title in Calcutta, which he had won in the previous two years. At the South Club, Krishnan easily disposed of the challenge of Mohammed Nassim of Pakistan. Krishnan's accuracy in serving enabled him to defeat his opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-4. The National Men's title went to India's No. 4, Sumant Misra, who beat Naresh Kumar, India's No. 2, in a hard-fought five-setter, 6-8, 2-6, 6-3, 9-7 and 6-3. The Mixed Doubles championship was won by A. J. Mottram and Mrs. Mottram who beat Naresh Kumar and Miss L. Woodbridge 6-1, 6-2.
