HYDERABAD Dec. 1. A doctor-couple and a woman sustained injuries when two youngsters attacked them with swords in their house in Sundarnagar under Sanjeevareddy Nagar police station limits on Sunday night.

The youths also inflicted a minor injury on a cyclist, seized his bicycle and fled on it after they were chased by the victims' neighbour. The police are yet to ascertain reasons for the attack.

The couple were working with St. Theresa Hospital at Erragadda. While Ramaiah Babu (47) sustained sword injuries on shoulder, his wife, Ashwini (41), and his mother, G.B. Vani (68), received injuries on waist and left hand respectively.

The victims were engaged in a conversation when suddenly the duo barged into their house shouting at them. According to Dr. Ramaiah's relatives, the accused persons were in an intoxicated condition.

One of the accused persons tried to gag the victims while the other lunged at them with the sword inflicting injuries. The culprits spoke in Telugu. The youths took to their heels when Dr. Ramaiah's son, Abhijit, and the neighbour chased them.
