Owners of HLL agency robbed of Rs. 7 lakh

BANGALORE DEC. 1. A three-member gang armed with a country-made pistol robbed the proprietors of Ashoka Agency, wholesale distributors for products of Hindustan Lever Ltd., (HLL) of Rs. seven lakh in cash, six gold chains, two bracelets, and two mobile phones in Ulsoor Gate Police Station limits on Saturday night.

Police said that around 11 p.m., Ashok Kumar and his three brothers closed the door of their shop located on Nagarathpet Main Road from inside and started counting the day's collection.

Three youths barged in and threatened the four brothers with a pistol and relieved them of cash, gold jewellery, and mobile phones.

The criminals locked the brothers in a room and fled.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Gopal B.Hosur, has constituted two teams to nab the culprits.

Job racket: Tilaknagar Police have busted an international job racket by arresting Mohammed Jamakhan who had allegedly taken Rs. one lakh each from 84 students promising them jobs in Dubai.

Police have recovered a car, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and fake documents from the accused, who had been running his business under the name "Kingline Human Resources and Management Consultants, Dubai".

The accused allegedly had contacts with Kamran Siddique of Pakistan and was running the racket with his help, police said.

He had advertised in newspapers in Bangalore, Mysore, Mumbai, and Kochi, and also conducted interviews at these places.

Killed in mishap: A 10-year-old boy, Antony Raj of Muniswamappa Road, was killed on the spot after he came under the rear wheels of a BMTC bus after he got down from the bus at the bus stop on Swami Vivekananda Road in Ulsoor around 9.45 p.m. on Saturday. Ulsoor Police have taken up a case.

Arrested: Shivajinagar Police have arrested Siraj Ahmed (42) of Neelasandra on a charge of theft and recovered a Mahindra jeep and silk yarn worth Rs. one lakh.

Police said the accused had allegedly stolen the jeep, belonging to a silk merchant, Inthiyaz Pasha of Sidalaghatta, using fake keys when the vehicle was parked at Russel Market on November 27.
