The residents of Jakkasandra, 3rd Block, Koramangala, decided that enough was enough and, with timely action, brought to book a resident who felled a healthy tree. Neighbours noticed a resident of 8th `B' Main getting the tree, which was 15 feet tall, being chopped. It was on the footpath outside the person's residence and belonged to the BMP. The Secretary of the Koramangala Residents' Civic Group, R. Ram Murthi, who was informed about the tree being cut, contacted the Forest Department. Officials rushed to the spot, and imposed a Rs. 10,000 penalty (fine and the cost of the tree) on the guilty party.
