Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
The police received a call around 10 a.m. that an unclaimed box was found at the junction of Lathuram Street and the Gurusamy Street. A patrol vehicle was sent to recover the box, said the Joint Commissioner of Police, North, C. Sylendra Babu. The box contained Shiva, Parvathi, Muruga and Garudan idols and `pooja' items such as bells and lamps. The police sought the help of a temple priest, who estimated the idols to be around 1000 years old. He told the police that the idols were normally found in Tiruchi and Srirangam. The idols would be handed over to the Archaeology Department authorities tomorrow.
