Common front needed, says Elangovan

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI Dec. 1 . The BJP, the MDMK and the Tamil Maanila Muslim League today organised Iftar parties in the city.

The Union Minister of State, S. Thirunavakkarasar, participated in the Iftar organised by the BJP Minority wing and highlighted the party's role in promoting religious harmony and tolerance.

The Union Minister of State for Finance, Gingee K. Ramachandran, who spoke about the role of the MDMK in fostering religious amity, criticised the AIADMK Government for having brought in the law banning forced conversions.

At the pro-AIADMK TMML party, the TNCC working president, E.V.K.S. Elangovan, stressed the need for a common front to fight the law banning forced conversions. The law was aimed at appeasing the Hindu right and would serve as an instrument to prosecute the minorities, he warned.
