6-km banner marks AIDS Day

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR DEC. 1. Thousands of people put their signature on a six-km-long banner, pledging to fight AIDS on the occasion of the World AIDS Day, here today. The programme was organised by the State AIDS cell of the Orissa State Health and Family Welfare Society.

The Chief Minister, Neveen Patnaik, led the signatories of the written pledge, which the organisers claimed might adorn the pages of Guinness Book of Records as the world's longest-ever signature campaign against AIDS/HIV.

The white banner had on it a number of slogans aimed at creating mass-awareness about the killer disease. People were seen putting their signature on the banner and writing new slogans coined by them throughout the day.
