Protest over lottery sales by Govt. staff

By Our Staff reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Dec. 1. The decision of the State Government to promote the sale of lottery tickets using the services of its employees has been opposed by two major organisations of gazetted officers.

The Kerala Gazetted Officers' Association (KGOA) has questioned the propriety of the decision, terming it as highly unjust and demeaning. The State secretariat of the Association, which met here today, demanded the immediate withdrawal of the decision especially on account of the fact that Government machinery has already been existing for the conduct of the State lotteries.

Thrusting upon the employees unrealistic targets for sales and forcing the general public to purchase tickets would lead to a straining of relations between the two.
