Wrong policies: Farooq

By Shujaat Bukhari

JAMMU NOV. 27. The former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Farooq Abdullah, today criticised the Mufti Mohammed Sayeed-led coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir for its "wrong" policies on security matters.

Dr. Abdullah, who arrived here after performing `umrah' in Saudi Arabia, straightway drove to the Raghunath Temple here and talked to the people about the terrorist attack on Sunday.

Talking to mediapersons, he said: "There is no doubt that the new Government wants to take a new line but the situation will not improve by releasing the militants... I think this policy is wrong. Pakistan has been threatening us time and again and the militants too are bent upon destroying us. I cannot understand to whom they want to talk. They do not accept Kashmir as part of India".

Dr. Abdullah further said: "We talk about strengthening India on the one hand and the release of militants on the other. This will not help in that direction. We kept them (militants) in jail for the security of the people of the State. They should think over it and not take steps which will harm the people and their interests".

The Mufti Government's policies have adversely affected the security forces. "They are talking about disbanding SOG. Let them do that. I will see whether they can move. They should not take any step which would endanger the security of the country," he added.

The NC president, Omar Abdullah, and the provincial president, Bodh Raj Bali, accompanied Dr. Abdullah.
