The three-day programme will begin on November 28, with a Naval band performance for the public from 5-30 p.m. to 6-45 p.m. at the Tagore Centenary Hall. The festivities will conclude with the operation of a Naval ship, giving an opportunity for all to see ships illuminated off the Shanghumugham beach on the evening of November 30. A Naval band concert for civil dignitaries and invited audience will be held on November 29 evening. Selected school children, invited guests and media representatives will be taken for a `Family Day at Sea' on a Naval ship from Vizhinjam on the morning of November 30. The entry for the band performance at the Tagore Centenary Hall on November 28 will be free for the public. Southern Naval Command band comprising 45 musicians, will be playing the Brass, which includes the horn, cornet, trombone and euphonium, the Woodwing consisting of flute, piccolo, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, oboe and the Percussion. The band will play about 14 numbers that will include popular Malayalam, Hindi, English and pop. Besides participating in Naval ceremonies, the Naval band also performs at concerts and displays both at home and abroad, during goodwill visits by Naval warships.
