Ensure compliance with building plan, residents told

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD Nov. 27. The MCH Commissioner, Chitra Ramachandran, has appealed to the people of the twin cities to make sure that the apartments or houses they buy are built as per the sanctioned plan and approved sanctions.

``We have been taking up demolition of unauthorised structures for the last few days wherever the court has given judgments in our favour. We are also taking action against deviations among new constructions as well,'' she explained prior to taking calls during the weekly `Face to Face' programme.

Ms. Ramachandran told Anant Kumar from Amberpet that while no formal approval was required from the MCH for constructions within 200 yards "it does not mean you can build in whatever way you please.''

Certain financial institutions were seeking the building plans for loans, she said and promised to soon come out with an elaborate circular on the issue.

The civic body would take a decision on levying two per cent penalty per month for non-payment of municipal tax after holding discussions. However, she was unable to say when the building regularisation scheme issue would be sorted out when an unidentified woman inquired.

Quite a few problems highlighted during the programme pertained to water shortage in different areas.

Syed Ahmed Hussein Jafri from Purani Haveli, Vittal Rao from Gowlipura and Balraj from Amberpet complained of inadequate water supply and that the one hour time frame was not being maintained.

The water board chief engineer, Jambul Reddy, said he would inspect the area and attend to the problems depending on the available water. Narayan Sardar from Begum Bazar was unhappy with the APTransco for levying high fuel surcharges and for increasing the customer fees while billing.

He alleged that this problem was being faced by several people in his area. The Chief Engineer of Metro Zone, Srinivas Rao, said he would verify and asked Mr. Sardar to meet him in his office at the Mint Compound.

To a suggestion by P.V.S. Sastry of Bandlaguda, DCP (Traffic) K. Srinivas Reddy said very soon the city would have traffic enforcement through the lane system. Officials of the MCH, telephones and the RTC were present.
