HMWSSB official in ACB net

HYDERABAD Nov. 27. Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday unearthed properties worth more than Rs. 70 lakhs belonging to the Manager (Engineering) of the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply Sewerage Board, Padma Venkatesam, during simultaneous searches conducted at Hyderabad and Medak.

The assets included two houses in Hyderabad, 16.5 acres of land, 35 tolas of gold, bank balances and chits worth Rs. 10 lakhs, investments in stock market and five vehicles, according to a press release.

In another case, the Sub-Treasury Officer of Maheswaram mandal in Ranga Reddy district, Ahmed Abdul Jaleel, was on Wednesday caught red-handed when he accepted Rs. 1,500 bribe from a retired Community Health Officer of Kandukur mandal.

The STO was arrested and later released on bail, according to a press release. The STO demanded bribe from the complainant to process the pension benefit bills of the latter worth Rs. 29,385 and was caught. The case is under investigation.
