Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Staff Reporter
The Congress leader, Royapuram R.Mano, demanded two speakers from the party must be accommodated in the speakers' list for the Zero Hour, but was allotted only one. The 15-member TMC was earlier allotted two speakers, and after its merger with the Congress, it was only natural that the Congress should also be allotted two speakers, he said. But as this was not forthcoming, Mr. Mano staged a walk-out. After the meeting, the Deputy Mayor, `Karate' R.Thiagarajan, told reporters that the Congress who had only one member before the merger had an opportunity to speak in rotation once in four months. But now, they have been allotted one speaker for every Council meeting.
