Cong. leader meets Maran's wife

CHENNAI OCT. 22 . The All India Congress Committee (AICC) functionary in charge of Tamil Nadu affairs, Ramesh Chennithala, today met Mallika Maran, wife of the ailing Union Industries Minister, Murasoli Maran, under instructions from the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi.

A DMK release said Mr. Chennithala, accompanied by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) leaders, S. Balakrishnan and E.V.K.S. Elangovan, visited Apollo Hospitals and told Mrs. Maran that he had come at the behest of Ms. Gandhi and conveyed her wishes to the family members for Mr. Maran's speedy recovery.

Enquiries reveal that there is no change in the condition of Mr. Maran and the hospital was in touch with Mumbai to bring in another specialist to decide on the next course of treatment.
