Congress leaders held, released

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI OCT. 22. A Congress MLA and a Municipal Councillor from R.K. Puram in South-West Delhi were arrested and subsequently released on bail in a case of rioting outside the Vishwa Hindu Parishad office on Saturday. Acting on a complaint by the VHP activists, the police today arrested the area MLA, Ashok Singh, and the Councillor, Hiren Tokas, for their involvement in the rioting by Congress supporters outside the VHP office. The police said the Congress party activists pelted stones on the VHP activists and created a law and order problem, hence, a case of rioting was registered against them.

Soon after the arrests, the supporters of both the politicians gathered outside the police station shouting slogans against the VHP and the police.
