According to the police, information was received that two persons were trying to rob people near National Highway 24 in Sector 58 of Noida around 11-30 p.m. A police team reached the spot and challenged them. They allegedly began firing and the police team retaliated. One of them, Tejbir Singh, was killed on the spot, while his accomplice managed to escape. The police claim to have recovered a 9-mm pistol and a motorcycle from the spot. The police said Tejbir was wanted in 24 cases of dacoity and kidnapping for ransom. One of his kidnapping victims was a relative of a former U.P. Chief Minister, Ram Prakash Gupta, following which Tejbir's criminal involvements came to light.
