Rally against water release on Oct. 25

HASSAN OCT. 22. The Cauvery-Hemavathi Hitarakshana Samithi, which is spearheading the agitation against the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, has decided to hold a public rally near Hemavathi statue here on Friday.

The President of Mandya Raitha Hitarakhana Samithi G. Made Gowda, the President of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, M.D. Nanjundaswamy, the President of Dr. Rajkumar Fans' Association, S.R.Govindu, the filmstar, Ashok, the Kannada activist, G. Narayana Kumar, and the President of Mysore Cauvery Horata Samithi, Harshakumara Gowda, will participate in the rally.

Gururaja Hebbaar, President of the Cauvery-Hemavathi Hitarakshna Samiti, told presspersons here on Tuesday that several issues, including the jurisdiction of Supreme Court on inter-State river disputes, linking of Ganga-Cauvery and other southern states rivers, and politicisation of the Cauvery water dispute, would be discussed at the meeting.

Contractors' association, fruit merchants' association, and other associations would protest a procession in the city till Thursday in connection with Cauvery issue, Mr. Hebbaar added.
