By Our Staff Correspondent

TUMKUR OCT. 22.

Venkatalakshmamma of Tumkur has received a part of the compensation due to her on account of the death of her husband, Ranga Swamy, a municipal employee, 32 years ago.

Ranga Swamy died on May 16, 1970 while in service. Though Venkatalakshmamma visited the Deputy Commissioner's office and the Secretariat in Bangalore several times seeking compensation, the officials ignored her pleas.

Officials of the Tumkur City Municipal Council opened Ranga Swamy's file when the Lokayukta, N. Venkatachala, decided to visit the CMC office on May 6.

The officials placed the file before T.P. Manjunath, President of CMC, who discussed the matter at a meeting of the council on July 31.

The council decided to give a compensation of Rs. 1.13 lakh to Venkatalakshmamma, and Rs. 28,000 was paid to her on September 27.
