The CPI(M) candidate, M.B. Syamandra Bhadran, was successful in the Kottuvally division of Ernakulam District Panchayat. Two of the three block panchayat divisions, which went to the polls were won by the LDF. The other elected a UDF candidate. The LDF victories are in Kadamboor division of Edakkad block panchayat (Kannur district) and Nilamel division of Chadayamangalam block panchayat (Kollam district). The UDF victory is in Uzhamalakkal division of Vellanad block panchayat (Thiruvananthapuram district). The LDF bagged the Polasserry seat in Vaikom municipality (Kottayam district) and the UDF, the Koonamthai seat in Kalamasserry municipality (Ernakulam district). The LDF victories in the grama panchayats are in Choolatheruvu ward in Muthukulam, Chunakkara north ward in Chunakkara and Ulunthi ward in Budhanur (Alappuzha district), Kallara east ward in Kallara (Kottayam district), Venmani ward in Thavinjalil and Nambikolli ward in Noolpuzha (Wayanad district), Chengal ward in Eazhom and Kottam ward in Peralasserry (Kannur district). For the UDF, the grama panchayat victories are in Keezhperur ward in Nagaroor (Thiruvananthapuram district), Sreebhoothapuram ward in Sreemoolanagaram (Ernakulam district) and Koodapram ward in Alakkode (Kannur district). The lone BJP success comes from Ethadukka ward in Kumbadaje grama panchayat (Kasaragod district).
