NCP against power tariff hike

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI OCT. 10. The Nationalist Congress (NCP) general secretary, T.P. Peethambaran Master, has said that his party will join the Opposition's agitation against the hike in power tariff.

Speaking at a press conference here today, he said the Government should focus on minimising transmission losses and recovery of arrears instead of increasing the tariff. The Government should reveal to all political parties the details of the ADB loan agreement before signing the agreement, he said.

He said the State camp of the NCP will be held at Thanoor on October 12 and 13. The party's working committee meeting will be held at Shillong on October 19. The committee will chalk out plans for the forthcoming elections to four State Assemblies. The NCP will look for a strategy to prevent the BJP from regaining power. He said that there will be an effort to strengthen an alternative to the BJP and Congress at the national-level.

The NCP leader said there was total disharmony among the UDF constituents.
