Addressing presspersons at Kuvempu College at Kengal in Channapatna taluk on Wednesday, Mr. Krishna said he would travel from Mandya to the KRS in a vehicle after addressing a public meeting there. He would offer puja to the Cauvery at the KRS. The Dasara festival and disruption in road traffic between Mysore and Bangalore were the reasons for the change in the schedule, he said. On the ``padayatra", he said its aim was to strengthen the bond between the Government and the people. "I am satisfied with what I am doing.'' The Government had taken precautionary measures to manage any eventuality, he said. Recalling the hurdles in implementing the Varuna Canal Project, Mr. Krishna said the Government was committed to solving farmers' problems in Mandya and Mysore districts. He ruled out the possibility of the Union Government invoking Article 356 of the Constitution in the State. As per the Supreme Court's verdict in the Bommai case, an elected government should not be dislodged when it had a majority in the Legislative Assembly. Mr. Krishna brushed aside rumours about the dissolution of the Assembly and announcing of a mid-term election. "It is only a daydream,'' he said and expressed confidence about completing his term. An election would be held in 2004 and he would face it placing the achievements of the Government before the electorate, he said. In the morning, Mr. Krishna resumed the "padayatra'' from Ramanagaram and stopped at Kengal for lunch. The Ministers, Rani Satish, D.K. Shivakumar, Diwakar Babu, H.K. Patil, Motamma, H. Vishwanath, C.R. Sageer Ahmed, R.B. Thimmapur, H.M. Revanna, Ramalinga Reddy, Nafees Fazal, and others participated in the ``padayatra."
