Three share physics Nobel

STOCKHOLM OCT. 8. Raymond Davis and Riccardo Giacconi of the United States and Masatoshi Koshiba of Japan won the 2002 Nobel Prize in Physics today for proving why the sun shines and making the discovery of far-away stars possible.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said Mr. Davis and Mr. Koshiba would share half of the $1 million prize for their pioneering work on astrophysics while Giacconi would receive the other half of the award.
