The ban on the extremist group was to expire on July 22. All these years the extension was being done with a minimum discussion. However, this year the extension comes at a stage when the Government held three rounds of talks for ending the spiral of violence with the PW representatives -- poet Varavara Rao and revolutionary singer Gaddar. The final round of talks ended in a stalemate with the police continuing anti-extremist operations killing eight naxalites including a top cadre leader, Padmakka in different exchanges of fire. The PW was to announce the names of its members for holding direct talks with the Government by July 20. But now with the extension of ban the chances of direct talks between the extremist party and the Government appear remote.
