Sabarimala temple opens today

PATHANAMTHITTA JULY 15. The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple will open tomorrow afternoon for the five-day monthly poojas in the Malayalam month of Karkidakom that begins on Wednesday.

The Tantri, Kantaru Mohanaru, said that the Melsanthi, A.R.Raman Nampoothiri, would open the sanctum sanctorum at 5.30 p.m. tomorrow and the poojas would begin on Wednesday morning, the first day of Karkidakom.

The atonement rituals as prescribed in the Devaprasnam held in Sabarimala earlier would be held at the Ayyappa Temple on July 20 and 21.

A Mahasudarshana homam, Thila homam, Sayoojya poojas and Bhagavathi seva would be the special poojas in connection with the atonement rituals, said the Tantri.

He said that the auspicious Sahasrakalasam would be performed on the Ayyappa idol on July 19 and 20.

The Padi pooja and Udayasthamana pooja would be held on all the five days.

The temple would be closed after the five-day poojas on July 21 evening after the Athazha pooja.
