Asian Paints India has recorded a 35.84 per cent rise in net profit at Rs. 28.83 crores for the first quarter ended June 30, 2002, against Rs. 21.22 crores in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Net sales/income from operations also increased by 15.98 per cent to Rs. 321.56 crores from Rs. 277.25 crores, the company said in a release. Other income amounted to Rs. 3.73 crores (Rs. 1.85 crores). Paint sales in Q1 stood at Rs. 296.49 crores while `other' business, which constitutes manufacturing of phthalic anhydride and pentaerythritol, contributed Rs. 39.18 crores, the release added.
