Higher Education Secretary shifted in another shake-up

CHENNAI July 15. Just a month after a massive reshuffle in the State officialdom, the Jayalalithaa Government has effected another shake-up, shunting out the Higher Education Secretary, Mohan Verghese Chunkath and the Special Secretary to the Chief Minister's Office, K.Arulmozhi.

Within a week of his being posted as Additional Secretary, Industries department, Swaran Singh, former MTC Managing Director, has been shifted to Municipal Administration as its Director.

R.Sriram, who was till now Secretary, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Training), will take over as new Higher Education Secretary.

And, Mr.Chunkath has been posted as the State Commissioner for the Disabled in place of S. Machendranathan, who takes charge as Special Secretary, Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection department.

V. K. Jeyakodi, who was till now Commissioner, Municipal Administration, will move into the Chief Minister's Office as Secretary- III in the place of Dr. Arulmozhi, who has been posted as Secretary, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (Training).

The Adi Dravidar Welfare Commissioner, G.Ramakrishnan, swaps his post with Anuradha Khati Rajivan, Project Director, World Bank-assisted Integrated Child Development Scheme-III project.

In another significant change, Qudsia Gandhi, Chairperson and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, has been posted as Special Commissioner, Treasuries and Accounts, in the place of G.A.Rajkumar, who moves to the Rural Development department as its Special Secretary.

The Social Welfare Secretary, C.K.Gariyali, will hold full additional charge of the post of chairperson and managing director of the TNCDW.

Meanwhile, nine 1977 batch IAS officers— Debendranath Sarangi, S.Malathi, Rakesh Kacker, Mrutunjay Sarangi, Ajay Battacharya, Sameer Vyas, Qudsia Gandhi, R.Christodas Gandhi and Sheela Priya— have been promoted to the Special Commissioner Grade.
