Staines case accused on hunger strike

By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR JULY 15. The accused persons in the case pertaining to the killing of the Australian missionary, Graham Stuart Staines, and his two sons, have launched a hunger strike in the local prison demanding a change of judge conducting the trial in the case.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, the accused persons, including Dara Singh alias Ravindra Kumar Pal, have expressed apprehension that they would not get justice if the trial continued in the court of the present judge. Meanwhile, trial proceedings in the case were adjourned till tomorrow by the District and Sessions Judge, Mahendranath Patnaik, as only six of the 13 accused lodged in the jail were produced in the court today.
