Letters to the Editor
Sir, This is with reference to the recent articles by S. Rajaram, Micheal Witzel and R. Nagaswamy. Both Dr. Witzel and Dr. Rajaram are obviously prejudiced on either side of the political spectrum. I must congratulate Dr. Nagaswamy on his excellent summing up of the entire debate. Schools did and still do teach speculation as fact, such as the Dravidian origin of the Harappan civilisation and the so-called Aryan invasion of northwest India. We should discriminate between fact and speculation. Only the former should be taught to students. The latter can be left to scholars for debate. Nanditha Krishna, Chennai
