Sir, To book an individual for an offence under the law is the duty of the executive authority. That the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, has performed such a duty in invoking POTA to arrest the MP and MDMK chief, Vaiko, without being swayed by any considerations other than the meticulous interpretation of the law, is, indeed, a highly commendable act. The BJP spokesperson, Arun Jaitley's comment that the arrest was "perhaps unwarranted," citing some contextual excuse, is most unsavoury, especially when the Deputy Prime Minister himself has said that the subject is for the State Government to act upon. A. N. Ganapathy, Chennai
