Minor fire mishap at Secretariat

HYDERABAD April 29. A minor fire accident occurred in the first floor of G block in Secretariat here on Monday. A couple of old chairs and wires of a few metres length were gutted in the accident. Fire tenders of the Secretariat were pressed into service to put out the fire. Reasons for the mishap are not known.

Killed in accident

A seven-seater auto-rickshaw driver, Venkatesh (16), died on the spot and three others sustained injures when the auto- rickshaw and a lorry collided head on at Autonagar petrol bunk under Vanasthalipuram police station limits on Monday. The lorry driver, Balakrishna surrendered before the Hayathnagar police. The injured, Ashok of L.B. Nagar, Kumar of Secunderabad and an unidentified woman passenger were rushed to the Osmania General Hospital. While the auto-rickshaw was going from L.B. Nagar to Hayathnagar, the lorry was proceeding from Hayathnagar to Vanasthalipuram.

Killed in explosion

A worker of Sri Lakshmi Metal Industries, Velu (36) died on the spot and another, Krishna (40) sustained injuries when the detonators at the quarry exploded.

The injured was admitted to the Gandhi hospital. The Kesara police said that both Velu and Krishna were natives of Taramangala village of Salem district in Tamilanadu and came to Ranga Reddy district in search of livelihood.

Body found

The body of an unidentified male (45) was found in a graveyard at Road No. 12 under Banjara Hills police station limits on Monday. It is suspected that the victim consumed liquor in excess and slept on the 10-feet high compound wall of the graveyard.

He fell down from the wall and broke his spinal chord. The case is under investigation.

Four held

The Commissioner's Task Force (North) sleuths on Monday raided a massage parlour at Bharani complex, Minister's Road and apprehended four persons on charges of prostitution.

The prime accused, C. Vinod Kumar, was a native of Kagaznagar in Adilabad district and running a brothel house in the guise of massage parlour, according to a press release.

He employed two persons, Madhusudhan Raju and Ramesh and a woman, Madhavi, to assist him.
